THE HUNGER BENEATH THE HUNGER
“As the hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O God.” — Psalm 42:1
Sometimes what feels like restlessness, loneliness, disappointment, or dissatisfaction is actually a deeper hunger for God.
We try to quiet it with activity, possessions, relationships, entertainment, or achievement. These things may occupy us for a while, but they cannot nourish the deepest places of the soul.
Only God can satisfy the hunger He placed within us.
The person you are praying for may not yet recognize what they are seeking. But God knows. He can reach beneath the confusion and awaken a desire for His presence.
Lord, reveal the hunger beneath the hunger in __________. Draw them—and draw me—closer to You. Fill the places that nothing else can satisfy. Amen.
If your heart feels empty today, come honestly to Jesus. You do not have to understand everything before you begin seeking Him.
What has your soul been reaching for lately?
